Guitar Chords & Conventions
I will layout here site conventions so that when you see a chord or a tab you will know what fingers to use.
Below is an empty chord box. Chords are shown by black dots sometimes with a number indicating which finger to use, like the E chord shown next to it.
Below are the 7 basic open guitar chords.
Below is a refererence for more open chords.
Below are more major chords some of them using a bar. A bar is where you use your index finger to cover more than one string. These bar chords can take some practise to get use to them. We will use bar chords as we progress and you begin to learn about movable guitar chord shapes.
